Kickers look to continue winning streak as Toronto visits City Stadium

RICHMOND, Va. – The Richmond Kickers will try to continue their ascent up the Eastern Conference standings on Saturday night when they play host to a Toronto FC II side that rallied for a point in midweek to City Stadium. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. ET.

Richmond Kickers news and notes

  • Current record: 7-6-5, 26pts
  • The Kickers have taken victory in each of their past two games to move into sixth place in the Eastern Conference entering this weekend’s action.
  • Richmond also took a 2-0 win against the Premier League’s Swansea City A.F.C. last Saturday in an international exhibition, the first win for the club against Premier League opposition.
  • The Kickers have seen an uptick in attacking production in their recent run of form, with Sunny Jane and Yudai Imura both finding the goal in the club’s 2-0 win in Pittsburgh on July 14.
  • Richmond announced the signing of former New York Red Bulls U23 and University of Virginia player Scott Thomsen for the remainder of the season on Friday.

Toronto FC II news and notes

  • Toronto rallied to earn a 1-1 draw with the Rochester Rhinos on Wednesday night at the Ontario Soccer Centre.
  • Skylar Thomas’ second goal of the season proved the equalizer as TFC II extended its undefeated streak to three games.
  • Raheem Edwards provided the cross for Thomas’ goal for his second assist of the season. The Canada U23 international leads TFC II with six goals this season.
  • Toronto is tied for the most goals conceded in the USL with 38 alongside the Harrisburg City Islanders.
