MELBOURNE, Fla. – The New York Red Bulls II had posted four consecutive shutout victories, but Orlando City B found a way to break through twice during a 2-2 draw on Sunday at the Titan Soccer Complex. Pierre Da Silva notched an 87th-minute equalizer as Orlando fought for a point at home. OCB had led through Devron Garcia’s first-half tally, and then NYRBII defenders Tim Schmoll and Aaron Long scored back-to-back later in the first half to take a 2-1 lead into halftime. New York still extended its unbeaten streak to seven (5-0-2) but saw its four-game winning streak come to a close. NYRBII is 8-1-4 overall (28 points) and second in the Eastern Conference behind only Louisville City FC. Orlando is now 5-6-3 overall (18 points) and 3-5-3 at home.

Three Things That Mattered:

• 1. Though the Red Bulls II conceded early, the visiting side rebounded with its defense doing the finishing. Tim Schmoll opened up his account in the 38th minute, poking in a shot from only a couple yards out inside the near right post to tie the score at 1-1. Then Aaron Long notched his first goal with a bending volley around Orlando goalkeeper Mark Ridgers and inside the right post to take a 2-1 advantage in the 41st minute. Devon Williams provided the cross from the right side and Long did the rest. The tally also gave New York its first multi-goal game since its 3-1 victory at the Pittsburgh Riverhounds on May 7. NYRBII had ample chances to add to the lead, most notably Junior Flemmings’ volley that hit the left post in the 54th minute.

• 2. New York’s impressive shutout streak ended at 377 minutes, and ended in a way that wasn’t reminiscent of a club that has been mistake-free in the back. After four consecutive 1-0 victories, NYRBII was behind early against Orlando when Mikey Ambrose played a deep ball into the box and New York goalkeeper Ryan Meara rushed off his line to try and collect. Unfortunately for the Red Bulls II, he was not able to secure and at the edge of the 18, Devron Garcia had a wide open net to pinpoint for the 1-0 lead in the 17th minute. It was his first tally of the season. The previous goal New York had conceded was in the 90th minute against the Richmond Kickers on May 14. It did not end there as Pierre Da Silva slotted home a goal off of a Bryan Rochez assist that deflected off of a NYRBII defender and Orlando and New York would share a point. The Red Bulls II still lead the USL with the fewest goals conceded at eight in 13 games.

• 3.
