Reno 1868 FC hosts first regular-season contest at Greater Nevada Field

RENO, Nev. – Greater Nevada Field will host its first USL regular season contest on Saturday night with Real Monarchs SLC face Sacramento Republic FC at the home of 2017 USL expansion club Reno 1868 FC. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. PT.

Real Monarchs SLC news and notes

  • Current record: 4-5-4, 16 points
  • The Monarchs are officially the hosts for Saturday’s contest, which will see 1868 FC unveil its official jersey for the club’s inaugural season at halftime.
  • Real fell 1-0 to Sacramento in the first meeting between the teams this season on Wednesday night in the USL Game of the Week on ESPN3.
  • The defeat brought an end to a streak of six consecutive games with a goal for the Monarchs, who have been led this season by Ricardo Velazco’s five goals and three assists.
  • Greater Nevada Field is the fourth ‘home’ field the Monarchs have played at this season, as the club has also hosted games at Rio Tinto Stadium, Clyde Field and the Ute Soccer Field to bring the club to a wider audience in Utah.

  • Current record: 5-3-3, 18 points
  • Republic FC is undefeated in its last five games after Wednesday night’s win at Bonney Field, which saw Adam Jahn score the only goal just after halftime.
  • Sacramento previously played at Greater Nevada Field last month when it drew 2-2 with Liverpool FC U21s in an international exhibition.
  • Republic FC forward Daniel Trickett-Smith scored in that contest, and will be available on Saturday after serving a one-game suspension on Wednesday night.
  • 13 of the 16 goals scored in Republic FC’s games this season have come after the halftime break.
