Sacramento Republic FC news and notes

  • Current record: 4-3-1, 13 points
  • Republic FC is coming off a pair of contests with Liverpool FC U21s, which saw most of the team’s squad see action as it took a 2-1 win last Saturday at Bonney Field, and a 2-2 draw at Greater Nevada Field in Reno, Nev.
  • The two contests saw the debut for the side of new signing Daniel Trickett-Smith, previously a player for Liverpool U21s, and the 20-year-old announced his arrival with an outstanding free kick goal in Wednesday’s contest.
  • Sacramento has taken victory in each of its past two games in the USL to move back into the top eight in the Western Conference.
  • Goalkeeper Dominik Jakubek leads the league with a 0.38 goals-against average, and is second in the league with a .800 save percentage.

Swope Park Rangers news and notes

  • Current record: 3-4-1, 10 points
  • The Rangers are looking to bounce back from a 4-1 defeat to Rio Grande Valley FC in their last outing.
  • The game remained close for much of the second half after Daniel Salloi’s goal just before halftime had made it 2-1 to the Toros, but the hosts put the game away in the final minutes with two late goals.
  • Salloi now leads the Rangers with three goals and three assists on the season.
  • Saturday’s game is the Rangers’ first visit to Bonney Field, but forward Kris Trypak has had success there previously as he scored the only goal in the Austin Aztex’s 1-0 win at the venue last season.
