Energy FC, Monarchs both look to build on weekend victories

OKLAHOMA CITY – OKC Energy FC and Real Monarchs SLC are both coming off victories this past Saturday as they meet on Tuesday night at Taft Stadium. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. CT.

OKC Energy FC news and notes

  • Current record: 2-1-4, 10 points
  • Energy FC took its second win of the season on Saturday night as Colin Bonner’s first professional goal lifted the side to a 1-0 win against San Antonio FC.
  • Bonner was the second player to score for OKC this season on loan from club partner FC Dallas, following Coy Craft’s goal against Saint Louis FC on April 9.
  • Cody Laurendi had a big game in goal for Energy FC, as he recorded a six-save shutout to preserve the win in San Antonio.
  • OKC has conceded only two goals in its last five league games, and has not lost since the opening weekend of the season.

Real Monarchs SLC news and notes

  • Current record: 3-3-3, 12 points
  • The Monarchs snapped a five-game winless streak on Saturday night as they rallied for a 3-1 win against Orange County Blues FC.
  • Midfielder Ricardo Velazco led the Monarchs back from a halftime deficit against the Blues, as he recorded two goals and an assist.
  • Velazco is now tied with Maikon Orellana for the team lead with three goals. He also leads the club with two assists.
  • Tuesday’s game kicks off a four-game road trip for the Monarchs, which also includes visits to Vancouver and Sacramento.
