Saint Louis FC goalkeeper Ryan Thompson was confirmed as part of Jamaica’s 23-man squad for the 2016 Copa America Centenario on Friday, as the Reggae Boyz announced their roster for this summer’s tournament.

The former Pittsburgh Riverhounds goalkeeper will likely serve as a backup to the Philadelphia Union’s Andre Blake, who was also named in the squad. Last summer, though, Thompson entered the CONCACAF Gold Cup in similar circumstances, but stood tall when injury saw his introduction to the side as he helped Jamaica reach the final for the first time in its history.

The final roster did not include the Pittsburgh Riverhounds’ Sergio Campbell, or New York Red Bulls II’s Junior Flemmings, who are now both expected to be available for this weekend’s games in the USL.

Also excluded from the original 40-man roster were Seattle Sounders FC’s Oniel Fisher, who has played frequently for Sounders FC 2 this season, Real Salt Lake’s Omar Holness, who has begun his professional career this season with Real Monarchs SLC, and former Sacramento Republic FC loanee Alvas Powell.

To add to a happy day for Thompson, the 31-year-old also shared on on Saturday morning that he had become a father overnight, with the arrival of Piper Wren Thompson last night.
