Sacramento looks to build on win, take second victory vs. S2 this season

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Sacramento Republic FC will look to build on a win in its last outing when it hosts a Seattle Sounders FC 2 side it took victory against on the opening weekend of the season at Bonney Field. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. PT.

Sacramento Republic FC news and notes

  • Current record: 3-3-1, 10 points
  • Sacramento snapped a three-game losing streak last Saturday as goals by Emrah Klimenta and Harry Williams earned a 2-0 win against the LA Galaxy II.
  • Klimenta earned selection to the USL Team of the Week as Sacramento handed Los Dos their first defeat of the season.
  • Republic FC goalkeeper still leads the USL with a 0.43 goals-against average, and has recorded four shutouts in seven games this season.
  • Forward Tommy Stewart is the only Republic FC player to have recorded both a goal and assist this season. 

Seattle Sounders FC 2 news and notes

  • Current record: 1-4-3, 6 points
  • Seattle’s four-game undefeated streak came to an end last Sunday when it fell 2-1 to Tulsa Roughnecks FC.
  • The loss was S2’s fourth at Starfire Stadium this season, after losing only three times at home in the 2015 season.
  • U.S. U20 international Victor Mansaray leads S2 with two goals this season, while Myron Samuel has two assists.
  • Saturday’s game starts a run of three road games out of the next four for S2, who will also visit Portland and Orange County in that span.
