Vancouver looks to maintain undefeated start against Tulsa

VANCOUVER, B.C. – Vancouver Whitecaps FC 2 will try to maintain its undefeated start to the season on Wednesday night when it hosts a Tulsa Roughnecks FC side that has lost its past two contests. Kickoff at Thunderbird Stadium is set for 7 p.m. PT.

Vancouver Whitecaps FC 2 news and notes

  • Current record: 3-0-2, 11 points
  • Vancouver rallied for victory in its last outing after goals by Kyle Greig and Ben McKendry earned a 2-1 win on the road against the Swope Park Rangers last Wednesday.
  • WFC2 was set to complete its road trip on Saturday night, but its game with Saint Louis FC was postponed due to lightning and torrential rain.
  • Greig has led WFC2 with four goals this season since his offseason addition from OKC Energy FC. He sits tied for third in the USL in goals.
  • Vancouver has scored seven second-half goals this season, which is tied for second-most in the USL.

Tulsa Roughnecks FC news and notes

  • Current record: 1-4-1, 4 points
  • The Roughnecks fell for a second consecutive occasion on Saturday as San Antonio FC took a 3-1 victory at Toyota Field.
  • Kaleemullah scored his first goal for the Roughnecks to level the score 1-1 early in the second half, but goals by Rafael Castillo and Jason Johnson gave San Antonio victory.
  • After scoring 49 goals a season ago, the Roughnecks have only found the net four times in six games this year.
  • Goalkeeper Alex Mangels leads the USL with 33 saves, an average of 5.5 saves per game.
