Highlight-reel goals by Castillo, Johnson thrill crowd of 7,837 in team’s 3-1 victory

SAN ANTONIO – In the side’s return to Toyota Field, San Antonio FC was looking to give a packed house a reason to get on its feet in excitement.

Two brilliant second-half goals by Rafael Castillo and Jason Johnson did just that, as SAFC took a 3-1 victory against Tulsa Roughnecks FC on Saturday night in front of 7,837 fans at Toyota Field.

According to San Antonio Coach Darren Powell, the voices from the stands were a factor as San Antonio pushed for a vital three points.

“The fans make it an exciting place to be,” Powell said. “We’ve got a couple of guys getting cramps towards the end, and that crowd just lifted them those last ten minutes. The crowd helps them do that.”

With the game level 1-1 after Kaleemullah’s goal early in the second half for Tulsa had cancelled out Shawn Chin’s first-half finish for the hosts, Castillo scored with a blistering shot from 30 yards that Roughnecks goalkeeper Alex Mangels got a hand to, but couldn’t keep out of the net.

Then, with two minutes to go, Johnson wrapped up the victory with an audacious chip from the edge of the penalty area.

As you’d expect, the two goals, and another brilliant atmosphere brought the best out of fans on social media throughout the night.
