Richmond, Toronto look to bounce back from defeat last time out

RICHMOND, Va. – The Richmond Kickers and Toronto FC II will both look to rebound from defeat last time out when they meet for the first time this season at City Stadium on Saturday night. Kickoff for the contest is set for 7 p.m. ET.

Richmond Kickers news and notes

  • Current record: 2-2-1, 7 points
  • The Kickers suffered a second consecutive defeat last Friday night when a late penalty kick gave the Charlotte Independence a 3-2 win at Ramblewood Stadium.
  • Matthew Delicate’s first goal of the season, and his 42nd in the USL regular season, had leveled the score in the 89th minute before Jorge Herrera’s late goal for the Independence.
  • The back-to-back defeats were the first for the Kickers in the USL regular season since losses to Wilmington Hammerheads FC and the Charlotte Eagles in June, 2012.
  • The Richmond Times-Dispatch reported on Wednesday that Richmond goalkeeper Ryan Taylor would be out indefinitely with an MRI on his knee injury scheduled for Friday.

Toronto FC II news and notes

  • Current record: 1-1-2, 5 points
  • TFC II was handed its first defeat of the season last Sunday as a late goal by Omar Cummings gave FC Cincinnati a 2-1 win at the Ontario Soccer Centre.
  • Toronto had held the lead at halftime through Raheem Edwards’ fourth goal of the season, but Cincinnati rallied after the break to take victory.
  • Edwards’ four goals have matched Mo Babouli’s team-high a season ago.
  • TFC II has outscored opponents 4-1 in the first half this season, but has been outscored 6-3 in the second half.
