PITTSBURGH – Tyler Turner was the star of the inaugural USL Game of the Week on ESPN3 as he scored a pair of goals to lift Orlando City B to a 2-1 victory against the Pittsburgh Riverhounds on Friday night at Highmark Stadium.

The Riverhounds got on the front foot from the off, and Stephen Okai threaded a pass through to Kevin Kerr in the opening minute that saw the Scottish midfielder force a save from Orlando goalkeeper Mark Ridgers.

Orlando (1-3-1, 4pts) quickly got into the game, and created a good chance in the 21st minute as a pass slipped Hadji Barry into the left side of the penalty area. The former UCF forward had his shot blocked as the defense recovered quickly, and the Riverhounds (0-2-1, 1pt) immediately looked to counter as Romeo Parkes sent a header just wide of the left post.

Barry continued to be a menace to the Riverhounds’ defense, and he almost set up Turner four minutes later as his low cross through the six-yard area was met by the full back’s late run, but his shot went off the outside of the right post and behind.

The game turned in Orlando's favor nine minutes before the break as the Riverhounds were reduced to 10 men when Kerr was sent off for a hard challenge on Turner.

Turner continued to push up the right side as the half continued, taking advantage of Orlando's numerical edge, and scored his first goal of the season six minutes before the break as he drove past a pair of defenders at the top of the penalty area, and finished low into the left corner of the net for a 1-0 lead.

Orlando opened the second half brightly, with Turner again at the fore as he burst into the right side of the penalty area and had his cross blocked behind for a corner. Barry also had a half-chance as a pass into the penalty area allowed him to turn his man, but Pittsburgh goalkeeper Hunter Gilstrap smothered the ball before Barry could get off a shot.

Barry and Turner combined again in the 67th minute, and it resulted in Orlando’s second goal as the forward pulled back a low cross from the right side of the penalty area, and Turner’s first time finish crept into the left corner of the net for his second goal of the night.

Turner almost returned the favor moments later as a by Johnny Mendoza sent him into the right side of the penalty area, and his back-heeled pass found an onrushing Badji, whose shot was blocked as he looked for a near-post finish.

The Riverhounds tried to pull a goal back, and Michael Green had a fierce volley fly just over the crossbar after a free kick was only half-cleared by Orlando’s defense. More pressure came, and in stoppage time the hosts were awarded a penalty kick when Parkes was brought down. Parkes converted himself to halve Orlando’s lead, but the visitors held on for its first win in club history.
