Wednesday night clash sees both teams coming off first victories

IRVINE, Calif. – Orange County Blues FC and the Portland Timbers 2 will both try to build on their first wins of the season on Wednesday night when they meet at Anteater Stadium. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. PT.

Orange County Blues FC news and notes

  • Current record: 1-2-1, 4 points
  • Orange County claimed its first win of the season on Saturday night as Didier Crettenand’s goal proved the difference in a 1-0 win against San Antonio FC.
  • The goal was Crettenand’s second in as many games after his equalizer against the LA Galaxy II in their previous outing.
  • The Blues’ shutout was their first of the season for Brandon Miller, who last season had recorded a USL single-season record 13 shutouts with the Rochester Rhinos.
  • Orange County will be on home turf for the fourth time out of five games so far this season on Wednesday night.

Portland Timbers 2 news and notes

  • Current record: 1-3-0, 3 points
  • Portland took its first win of the season on Sunday as Kharlton Belmar’s goal earned a 1-0 victory against Sacramento Republic FC at Merlo Field.
  • Belmar’s goal was his first of the season, and just the third for Portland in its first four games. Belmar scored 12 goals a season ago to earn USL Rookie of the Year honors.
  • Wednesday’s game is Portland’s first road game of the 2016 season. In 2015, T2 went 4-8-2 on the road.
  • All three of Portland’s goals this season have come in the second half.
