Live music, more than 20 craft beers on tap as part of April 9 event

RICHMOND, Va. – The Richmond Kickers announced on Tuesday the club had partnered with the Carytown Merchants Association to host the first I Heart Carytown Craft Beer Festival, presented by Bon Secours Sports Medicine, at City Stadium on Saturday, April 9.

The festival is the same day as the Kickers’ home contest with the defending USL champion Rochester Rhinos at City Stadium. The event kicks off at 3 p.m. ET with live music by Hollywood Cemetery, a mini-Carytown marketplace featuring locally-owned restaurants, food trucks and handcrafted items from Carytown boutiques, 20-plus craft beers on tap set to be on hand for fans.

"For the Carytown Merchants Association, partnering with the Richmond Kickers is a natural fit,” said Camille Bird, President of the 2015-16 Carytown Merchants Association. “This partnership bolsters the Association’s commitment to the entire community of Carytown and supports our mission to create awareness of Carytown's culture and facilitate support for the organizations, large and small, within.”

The Kickers have previously been involved in the local brewing scene with the production of their own craft beer – Kick It Hunny – with Wild Wolf Brewing Company. Now the club is excited to welcome a wide spectrum of local flavors to City Stadium as it celebrates the growing local scene.

“Having called historic City Stadium home for over 20 years, the Richmond Kickers are proud to partner with our neighbors in Carytown to offer the ideal venue to host the first annual I Heart Carytown Craft Beer Festival,” said Kickers General Manager Shelley Sowers. “We are thrilled to be able combine a one-of-a-kind experience for fans to enjoy RVA’s most famous shopping and dining district with the passion and atmosphere of Kickers pro soccer at City Stadium.”
