ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The Rochester Rhinos are proud to announce the signing of Scottish goalkeeper Sean Murdoch. Murdoch joins the Rhinos after spending time with the Scottish Premier League side, Hibernian.

Murdoch began his career playing for the Heart of Midlothian youth team. He finished his youth career in 2005 with Dunfermline Athletic and immediately signed a senior team contract at the age of 19. He made five appearances during his time with Dunfermline, who played in the Scottish Premier League at the time. He gained experience while on loan with Scottish League One side Forfar Athletic (70 games) and Scottish Championship side Hamilton Academical (21 games). His play with Hamilton helped to lead the squad to promotion into the Scottish Premier League for the first time in club history. He split time over the next three seasons as he made 31 appearances for the Premier League side.

Murdoch signed a contract with Hibernian of the SPL in October 2012. His work caused Hibernian management to extend his contract in January 2013 to the end of the 2012-2013 season. When the season concluded, Hibernian management decided that they needed to keep Murdoch around and Murdoch played with the side through the end of 2014.

“We like his experience at a very high level," said Rhinos coach Bob Lilley. "He has good hands and very good awareness of his position. He manages the game well and should bring stability in the back.”

 The Rochester Rhinos continue their 20th season with two matches this week, as they visit Louisville City FC on Thursday night at 7:30 p.m. ET before traveling to play Saint Louis FC on Saturday at 8:30 p.m. ET. Both games can be seen live in their entirety via streaming video on YouTube Live.

The Rhinos open the home portion of their 20th season on Sunday, April 26th at Sahlen’s Stadium at 2:05 p.m. against New York Red Bulls II.
