SANDY, Utah - Real Monarchs SLC earned its second win of the season as it defeated Austin Aztex in come-from-behind fashion, 3-1, before a club-record crowd of 11,003 at Rio Tinto Stadium.

After once again conceding the first goal in the 28th minute – when Monarchs captain Lucas Baldin was tripped up from behind and forward Trevin Caesar buried the resulting one-on-one with GK Eric Osswald – the Monarchs bounced back to dictate the tempo of the match.

Ten minutes after the Aztex's opening, Real scored its first of the night. The Aztex attempted to clear the ball but it was blocked by Ricardo Velazco on a header that was picked up by Emery Welshman and played back to Velazco, who then found Maikon Orellana making a run to the back post. Orellana blasted low in and in the corner past Aztex goalkeeper Devin Perales for the tying goal.

Two minutes later the Monarchs took the lead on a goal from Velazco. This time Orellana provided the assist from the top of the 18-yard area and swung it near post to Velazco, who nutmegged the goalkeeper for the rookie's first goal for the Monarchs.

In the second half, Aztex came out aggressively searching for the elusive equalizer getting off four shots in the first 20 minutes of the second half. Head coach Freddy Juarez made two subs in the 65th minute, bringing on midfielder Lennon Celestino – and midfielder Fito Ovalle – on loan from Real Salt Lake. The duo changed the pace of the match in favor of the Monarchs, and in the 70th minute Real extended its lead further.

Riley McGovern started the play with a clearance which was headed on by Orellana – who already had a goal and an assist on the night – and found Welshman. He beat his defender, danced around the goalkeeper and tapped it in for the insurance goal.

Juarez’ final three substitutes proved vital in closing out the game as the team only allowed the Aztex one more shot in the final 25 minutes of the match, and the Monarchs moved into double-digits in points in the USL's Western Conference.
