Hello everyone,

Since there was an abundance of questions for the Q & A with Tim Holt, I took a couple questions that I could provide answers for. His responses to your questions should be available soon.

JBSilverbacksFan: When will we see Iggy Moleka in the hall of fame?
Ignace MolekaSince I more or less manage our Hall of Fame operations, it’s probably easiest for me to answer this question. Our basic requirement for player eligibility for the USL Hall of Fame is that the player has not played in USL for the past three seasons, whether it by via retirement or movement to MLS or abroad. As for Iggy, it probably is not my place to give my opinion on his merits of being in the Hall, but I can say that its inductees are elected by the current members of the USL Hall of Fame. Much like other sports hall of fames, it is very difficult to get a consensus of votes each year, making it very difficult for entry, which most would argue is a good thing as you would want your Hall of Famers to be the best of the best. Based on previous votes and who has been elected, players who would likely be inducted are those who have won league championships in USL and/or went on to marquee careers in MLS or at the international level. While Iggy may be a memorable figure in Silverbacks history, his credentials via those standards may make it difficult for him to be inducted given the litany of star players that have graced the fields in the history of USL-1 dating back to 1986 as well as the rest of USL. The great thing about him though is that he is still an active member of the USL family as a Silverbacks youth coach, which only enhances his virtual resume for possible induction.

SRLWizardsFan: When could we expect to see a player register from say 1996 until now? I would be satisfied with just the pro teams (the pdl could be done later).
We are constantly chipping away at re-creating an archive of USL history from its inception through to today. USL’s humble beginnings had very few records in place and with office moves through the first ten years and staff turnover since then, a lot of information is either lost (physically or electronically), buried in storage, or in numerous places/formats. One of my goals since joining USL years ago was to forge a historical database and with the assistance of individuals such as soccer historian Dave Litterer and Whitecaps communications guru Alan Douglas, much of past from USL and the USL First Division has been uncovered. Creating a uniform database is more or less the final task at hand. While it would seem to make sense to give priority to the pro leagues, it is actually much more complex as many teams and players individually span multiple leagues, making the creation of a database extremely interwoven. My goal is to have this database built to a point good enough for publication so that we can issue an expanded Fact and Record book similar to that of MLS’ annual guide for our 25th Anniversary media guide.

RonS: Why is my credit card still being charged $9.99 per month for the online matches?
Ron, USL Live is also an On Demand service, so the membership is set up to automatically renew throughout the 12-month calendar; however, it is my understanding that all members were sent a notice shortly after the close of the season regarding their membership. I would recommend contacting the USL Live customer service department if you wish to cancel the membership until the next season begins.
