WICHITA, Kan. -- The Wichita Wings are excited to announce the signing of 2012 MISL MVP Geison Moura to this season’s lineup pending league approval. Geison is an all-star indoor soccer player that has the ability to take games over with his impressive play and natural instincts. Geison, having led the Missouri Comets to the postseason the last two seasons, is sure to add to the Wings' attack as well as become a viable defensive addition.
Last season with the Comets, Geison led the MISL in scoring with 90 points, on 37 goals with an average of five points per-game. This adds unprecedented offensive firepower to the Wings lineup, which in turn can add scoring opportunities for other players with opposing defenses seemingly unable to match up.
Wings General Manager John Blazek is excited to see the potential of this year’s Wings roster. “We couldn’t be happier to have Geison wearing Wichita’s Black and Orange this season. He’s an outstanding player that can significantly impact games as well as make his teammates better.”
Blazek and Coach LeBaron Hollimon have increased the talent level on this year’s roster significantly in just year two of the organization.
“We’ve built a team Wichita can be proud of by getting the best players that will fit our system," Hollimon said. "Geison will add a great amount to our team no question, but we’re excited about the entire unit working together.”
Geison turned pro at age 19 when he signed with the A.A Portuguesa Santista and played in the 2006 Federation Cup. Moving to America in 2007, Geison immediately helped the New Jersey Ironmen (MISL) reach the playoffs. Geison then played for the Missouri Comets where he has been a strong force in leading the Comets to the playoffs the last two seasons. Because of his outstanding play last season, the MISL voted Geison as the League’s Most Valuable Player.
This new and improved Wichita Wings squad open the season on the road against Geison's former club, the Missouri Comets, on Friday, November 2 at 7:35 p.m. CT before returning to Hartman Arena on Sunday, November 4th at 3:05 p.m. CT to face their regional rivals in the second game of a home-and-home series to open the 2012-13 MISL season.
