WASHINGTON, D.C. – Two Real Maryland FC Players who stepped on the pitch together this summer in the PDL will dig in for a contest this Wednesday that will impact the top of the men’s college soccer national rankings. George Fochive of the University of Connecticut and John Snyder of Georgetown University will meet again at 3 p.m. Wednesday at North Kehoe Field after helping Real Maryland FC back into the PDL Playoffs this summer.
Fochive has started and played all 10 games this season for the Huskies while logging 868 minutes. UConn is currently undefeated, ranked No. 2 nationally and is looking to climb back to the top of the ladder.
Fochive is currently running in the central part of the Huskies’ midfield. He appeared in nine matches in Real Maryland FC’s central midfield in 2012, logging 590 minutes with and contributing two assists.
Snyder has played in nine matches for the Hoyas this season. Georgetown is currently undefeated, ranked No. 5 nationally and looking to jump to the top spot for the first time in 2012. The Georgetown midfielder played nine games for Real Maryland FC in 2012, logging 635 minutes while running on the flank.
Depending on the result of this Big East Conference match and the outcome of the ACC rivalry this Friday night between the No. 1 Maryland Terrapins and the Virginia Cavaliers, there could be a major shake-up at the top of the rankings next week.
Last season UConn and Georgetown played to a 0-0 tie in Storrs, Conn. UConn leads the series 13-9-3, and the Huskies have blanked the Hoyas in seven of the past nine meetings.
