USL announces Week 20 honors
Tuesday, September 2, 2003

TAMPA, FL - United Soccer Leagues announced today the Team and Player of the Week honors for the A-League, honoring Milwaukee's Digital Takawira as the Player of the Week for the 20th and final week of the A-League season.

The Milwaukee Wave United picked up three victories on the final week of the season to capture the A-League regular season title, albeit by a tiebreaker advantage over the Montreal Impact. Milwaukee finished with two more wins.

Leading the way for Milwaukee was forward and Player of the Week Digital Takawira, who notched four goals and two assists on the week.

In a key Wednesday night meeting with rival Minnesota Thunder, Takawira scored twice en route to a 3-1 win. Takawira's third goal of the year made it 2-0 when he nodded in a header cross from Chad Dombrowski. His fourth of the season, which put Milwaukee up 3-0, came from 12 yards out off a centering pass from Greg Howes.

Two nights later in Cincinnati, Takawira registered two goals and two assists in the first half of play before the game was called at halftime due to lightning. Matt Schmidt and Greg Howes also tallied two goals and an assist each.
