RALEIGH, NC -- The Raleigh CASL Elite knocked off the visiting DS United of Jacksonville, Florida this afternoon, 4-1, to advance to the Second Round of the Lamar Hunt US Open Cup, setting up a rematch with the USL Pro Select League's Carolina Dynamo, who Raleigh eliminated, 5-2, in the First Round last year.
Raleigh defender David Buehler opened the scoring with a goal in the 26th minute on an assist from Greg Schwartzenberger.
Midfielder Keith Nicholson scored unassisted in the 34th to give Raleigh a 2-0 lead.
Moments from the break, DS United got on the board when Adrian Miron found the back of the net on an assist from Hediad Mimic for a 2-1 scoreline.
Ten minutes into the second frame, Ray Fumo gave CASL Elite its two-goal margin back on an assist from Chris Norbet.
Schwartzenberger picked up his second assist of the match when he connected with John Izzo to ice the game in the 87th minute.
