SILVER SPRING, MD -- The Real Maryland Monarchs have reached an agreement on signing the former Ivory Coast international Hamed Diallo, pending Visa approval.
Prior to signing with the Monarchs, Diallo played with the Carolina RailHawks in the USL First Division for two seasons. Prior to seeing limited playing time in 2009, Diallo scored seven goals and registered three assists in 16 games to finish with a team-leading 17 points in 2008. He registered an assist in his debut with the team (a 1-1 draw at Vancouver) and recorded a hat-trick later that year in a 4-3 loss at Seattle on Aug. 24.
In 2007, Diallo started his USL career with the Rochester Rhinos on fire when he scored nine goals and had two assists for a team-leading 20 points. He received USL First Division All-League First Team recognition for his efforts which ranked third in goals and sixth in points.
In 1999, Diallo was the top goal scorer (20) in France’s Ligue 2 with Stade Laval. He also won the Ligue 2 Golden Boot in 2002 with Amiens SC. Diallo has also played professionally in Belgium, Italy, Sweden and Qatar.
