TAMPA, FL -- Thursday’s news conference in Orlando announcing the newest USL franchise has generated quite a buzz. The Orlando team, owned by the Orlando Titans Lacrosse Club, will begin play in 2011. Media and the Central Florida soccer community packed a hotel ballroom yesterday as USL and Titans officials made the announcement.
Senior Director of the USL First Division Chris Economides today commented on his experience at the press conference on the USLsoccer.com Free Kicks blog, saying “There was an air of excitement that was genuine.”
He added that, “The press conference itself was major league, with seven TV cameras, several radio stations, the Orlando Sentinel and a host of other publications including a large contingent of Hispanic media.”
