TAMPA, FL – The United Soccer Leagues’ Annual General Meeting in preparation for the 2010 season will begin in Tampa, Florida Thursday, November 19. The gathering of the organization’s professional and amateur league executives and coaches for operational, educational and scheduling meetings will conclude November 22.
The USL AGM is part of the USL SoccerFest, which also features the 2009 Super Y-League North American Finals and the USL Five-A-Side Frenzy, a local recreational tournament.
The AGM officially gets under way with the Kickoff Social Thursday evening and will get underway in earnest with a full day of league meetings and special seminars. Among the seminars are a series on ticket sales presented by Rob Cornilles of Game Force Sports. Other meetings will include sessions on developing international affiliations from Beswicks Sports and USL franchise youth development.
The annual USL Hall of Fame and Awards Dinner concludes the festivities Friday evening as the teams gather to honor the teams and executives for their performances during 2009 and the induction ceremony for the USL Hall of Fame. The Charlotte Lady Eagles, Ottawa Fury and Thunder Bay Chill will be inducted as 10+ Clubs while Leigh Cowlishaw (Richmond Kickers) will be inducted as a Coach and the duo of Paul Conway and Scott Schweitzer will be honored as Players. The AGM continues Saturday with continued league meetings as well as a session on stadium and facility development. The evening concludes with a special evening at the Ed Radice Sports Complex, where the Super Y-League Finals action features a prime-time Showcase Match, U17 Boys TSF Academy versus Kendall SC, and dinner.
The annual Trade Show at the AGM runs Friday and Saturday.
The AGM comes to a close with 2010 match scheduling sessions on Sunday. The USL Soccer Fest continues Monday and Tuesday with the semifinals and championship matches of the SYL North American Finals.
