Rio Grande Valley's Moreira meeting with soccer executives

PHARR, TX -- RGV Bravos FC Technical Director Ismael “Moreira” Braga traveled to Brazil where he will meet with executives of the Brazilian Soccer Federation as well as with various First Division teams.

Coach Moreira arrived in his native Brazil last Friday and will be meeting with several top flight Brazilian soccer clubs and their respective front offices, coaches, scouts and former teammates during his stay with the objective to create alliances between Bravos FC and Brazilian soccer.

“I’m going to be meeting with some executives from the Brazilian Soccer Federation and teams like Botafogo,” said Moreira. “It’s a great opportunity to promote the great local soccer talent that exists in the Valley.”

Moreira, who played on legendary Brazilian sides Botafogo, Flamengo, Santos FC as well as the Brazilian National Team, led Bravos FC to successful inaugural season las summer in which the first-year squad notched 6 wins, 5 losses and 5 draws, good for 23 points and fifth place in the Mid-South Division of the USL Premier Development League.

Bravos FC was in the playoff race until the very last game of the season and was one of the most offensive clubs in the league and Blue-and-Gold strker Salvador Luna clinched the runner-up goal scoring title with 16 goals in 14 matches.

“Bravos is a reality and we want to continue to support the local talent and project our players to a higher level of soccer,” said the Bravos FC Technical Director.

On the Blue-and-Gold’s 25-man roster during the inaugural 2009 season, 22 players, or 88 percent, were local talent.
