TAMPA, FL – RTP Internacional, the international television service of public broadcaster Rádio e Televisão de Portugal, will be attending the USLSoccerFest later this month as part of its continuing USA Contacto television show, which covers organizations around the world with a Portuguese background and leadership.
“This is a very special opportunity for USL,” said USL founder and President Emeritus Francisco Marcos. “USA Contacto primarily focuses on individuals and organizations that are of a more corporate nature. Focusing on sports is a rarity.”
The film crew will be attending the 2009 edition of the USL SoccerFest to feature USL as a major sports entity in the United States and Canada founded by a native of Portugal as well as following the three Ironbound SC youth boys teams (U13-U15) that will be competing in the Super Y-League North American Finals. Ironbound is a Newark, NJ-based youth club that is chaired by Portuguese-American and Newark native Albert Coutinho and has a prevalent Portuguese philosophy within the club. The club also operates a Premier Deveopment League franchise, Ironbound Express, that will be in attendance at the AGM preparing for the 2010 season.
Coutinho has also been featured on the show for his work away from the field. He was recently re-elected as a New Jersey State Assemblyman for a second term.
“This show will be a great opportunity to showcase USL internationally,” added Marcos. “It will be aired all over the world on RTP’s various affiliate networks.”
RTP International airs on networks in Europe, South America, Africa, Asia, Australia and North America as well as being available online.
The USA Contacto episode featuring USL will air a few weeks following the event and will likely be replayed several times on the various networks around the globe.
“We are excited to have RTP visiting and featuring our organization,” said Marcos. “They are among a number of groups and individuals from abroad that will be attending the USL Annual General Meeting and USL SoccerFest as a whole, including our strategic international affiliations partner Beswicks Sports.”
