“I’ve known both Daniel and Eric for some time,” said RailHawks Head Coach Martin Rennie. “They are tremendous players who will be great assets to what we are trying to build here both on and off the field.”
Goalkeeper Eric Reed comes to the RailHawks after helping the Cleveland City Stars win the 2008 USL-2 Championship. The 2006 PDL Goalkeeper of the Year with the Southern California Seahorses last year led USL-2 in goals against average (.583) and goals against (7). He was also runner-up in shutouts (7) despite playing only 12 matches in 2008.
Reed is a native of Nashua, NH but grew up in Southern California where he attended UCLA. The three-time All-PAC 10 Honoree helped the team reach the final match of the 2006 NCAA Men’s College Cup. Reed finished his college career with 162 saves, 24 shutouts and a 0.81 goals against average.
Daniel Paladini is a midfielder who spent the last three years in the Major League Soccer system. He was drafted by the LA Galaxy in 2006 but made his MLS debut with Chivas USA in 2008. With Chivas he appeared in eight games starting five and scoring one goal.
In 2007, he spent time with the San Fernando Valley Quakes where he played in 14 games tallying three goals. Paladini went to Cal-State Northridge where he scored seven goals and added four assists in 2005, as he earned the title of Big West Conference midfielder of the year.
