USL News Release
Monday, May 21, 2007
TAMPA, FL -- United Soccer Leagues announced the USL First Division and USL Second Division Teams of the Week for the fifth week of the season, honoring Vancouver’s Eduardo Sebrango and Cincinnati’s Mike McGinlay as the Players of the Week, respectively.
Vancouver dominated play over the weekend with a pair of 3-1 victories on the road and at home as Eduardo Sebrango pushed his league-leading goal total out to six for the season in seven games with three over the double-dip.
The defending champions opened the action on the road Saturday in San Francisco looking to avenge a season-opening 2-2 draw at home to the expansion California Victory and got things going early with two goals from Sebrango in the first 10 minutes of action. It took just six minutes for Sebrango to score his fourth goal of the season after he latched onto a loose ball 20 yards out and fired his shot home. And four minutes later, a slip by Victory centerback Daniel Smith gifted Sebrango another goal-scoring opportunity, which he gladly poached for a true striker’s goal.
The following night at home Vancouver played host to the Rochester Rhinos in the second half of their championship rematch series, which opened with a 1-1 draw in Rochester. Tied 1-1, Sebrango and Jay Alberts came off the bench to lead the team to the win. Alberts put the go-ahead goal in the 70th minute and set up Sebrango in the 82nd to put the game out of reach Sunday.

The Cincinnati Kings broke out in a big way Friday night as Mike McGinley found the back of the net three times in the first 26 minutes of action en route to a 4-0 victory. The result was for the club’s second victory to move to 2-3-1 and it was the first time the team had scored more than one goal in a game on the year.
Thies Hermann set up goals in the third and 26th minutes with Romain Cheurlin doing the honors in the 18th. McGinlay’s outburst matched his goal total for last year when he saw action in 19 of the club’s 20 games.
