BOULDER, CO -- The Colorado Rapids and the Boulder Rapids Reserve have announced a partnership for the upcoming season. As a result, the Boulder Rapids Reserve has changed their name to Colorado Rapids U-23.
“We are very happy to have the full support of a successful MLS team like the Rapids,” said head coach Peter Ambrose.
The Reserve will serve as a farm team, allowing the Rapids organization to gain in-depth insight into its potential future draft picks. The Colorado Rapids U-23 will now wear the same uniforms, matching the maroon and blue of the new jerseys worn by the Colorado Rapids. Additionally, they will share a similarly designed logo.
On board as well, is a new title sponsor, Natural Habitat Adventures. Natural Habitat Adventures, a nature travel company, firmly believes in protecting the environment while delighting in its diversity and beauty.
Their hard work will make Colorado Rapids U-23 the first carbon neutral soccer team in the world. The team’s slogan for this season will be, “Kick Global Warming.” It’s a system in which the carbon produced by the team during its daily events (driving, cooking, etc.) is offset by modes of carbon reduction (reforestation, solar power, wind power, etc.).
This comes at a perfect time as the buzz surrounding both teams is at a peak. With the Rapids celebrating the opening of their new stadium, Dick’s Sporting Goods Park and the Colorado Rapids U-23 hosting its eighth annual open tryouts on April 21 and 22 in Boulder, Colorado.
Coach Ambrose states, “We have received registrations from players from all over the USA and many of our local talented amateurs as well. This season promises to be an exciting one with our first home game is also our first night game in franchise history.”
The game will be played at Boulder High School on May 26. Kick off time is 7:30 PM against the Des Moines Menace.
