March 18, 2007

Things started to change a little bit here in Montreal since this past week.

I was living in a hotel in downtown, where I could just walk a few blocks and I would have pretty much anything I wanted. This past Wednesday, just one day before preseason started, I moved to a house a little bit further away from downtown, but right beside our training facilities. So now, I am living with another player, Simon Gatti, which is a very nice guy.

On Thursday, March 15th, the preseason started. We had two sessions a day on Thursday and on Friday. During the morning sessions we would do some ball stuff and scrimmage after that, because we still had some players trying out.

The afternoon sessions were a bit more painful, where we would do more running/cardio stuff. I felt very good practicing with my new teammates and we are starting to get to know how each other play a little bit more everyday.

I scored a couple of goals on those two scrimmages, which always makes me happy as a forward being that scoring goals the main reason I am here, I suppose.

We had the weekend off, which enabled me to go around the city and enjoy even more of this magnificent city. On Saturday night, I went to my first hockey game with the coaching staff and some other players. We were invited by the president of the Impact, Mr. Sapputo. It was an amazing experience to see how fanatic the people here are in Canada about hockey, and also to watch a very good hockey game.

This coming week, we will be practicing here in Montreal until Friday, when we will depart to Florida to give continuity to our preseason camp.

It is getting late now. Bed time, tomorrow we will have to do some fitness testing in the morning.

Night,

Fred Moojen

We have been training here In Florida for a few days now. The preseason is going very well. We are having two sessions daily, where we do a lot of ball stuff and also some fitness.

The weather here could not be better. It has been very sunny, and the atmosphere here amongst the players is very positive. All the players are very friendly and it feels like we are a big family already. It is very important for a team that has high aspirations as we do.

We had a friendly game against the Honduras national team and we did very well overall for our first game, which we ended up tying 1-1. We had two different teams playing 35 minutes each.

I felt very comfortable playing my first match with the team, despite the fact that I did not put the ball in the back of the net.

After the game we had the first afternoon off. All the players went to the beach, and relaxed a little bit after playing a tough match under the hot sun in Florida.

We have been practicing twice a day since then and it is giving us the opportunity to get fit and close together as a team. Most of the time that I am not practicing I spend resting and watching movies in my room with my Brazilian roommate and friend Ze Roberto, which has been playing for the Impact for the last five years and has been helping me a lot as a new player here.

I have to admit that after two daily sessions, there is not else you could do other than go to your room and rest as much as you can.

That is all for today,

Best Regards,

Fred Moojen
