Norway with Weaver: Through Round 5
Scoring and sleep have been hard to come by

NORWAY WITH WEAVER >>

Tuesday, May 8, 2007

After round 5, we are sitting in eighth place in the table, but only one point away from fourth. We have played one more road match than at home, and our away matches have been against higher quality teams.

Our last match was away to HamKam, and we were unfortunate to concede a penalty in the 90th minute to lose three points and settle for one.
Weaver has been serving a multi-faceted role (Haugesunds-avis.com)
I have not scored in the last three matches, but have been involved in most of the goals and I'm doing other things to help out. My ability in the air brings me back for most set pieces against us, as well as battling for every ball cleared out of the back.

Our team put together many dangerous attacks in the last match, as we are getting used to each others playing styles. Our next match is at home, and we are looking forward to hopefully getting three points and jumping back towards the top of the table.

I have been battling a slight groin injury for the last week, which has kept me from training every day. It might hold me out of training some more, but I am working every day to get back to 100%.

As for off the field stuff, Estrella has started to work at a bar/club downtown. This will hopefully enable her to get her work permit and stay in the country legally. We still spend time hiking in the nearby hills, exploring new places whenever possible.

As the weather warms up, I plan on doing some flyfishing, which is a hobby of mine. I have heard there is some good places to fish around here, both fresh water and saltwater. Haugesund is known as a fishing town.

And as for weather, it really has been up and down. One day it will be warm sun and no clouds, and the next will be cold rain and fierce winds. They say you can have all four seasons in one day here. Not only can you, but it seems like you often do.
Summer is just around the corner though, which is exciting to me. The sun is rising here around 5:30 and setting just before 10, got to get used to sleeping when its light out most of the time.

We have also started taking Norwegian classes, in hopes we can learn the basics and help our reading ability. The method of looking up a single word in an English to Norwegian dictionary and making the translation for the word gets frustrating really fast.

There are people from around the globe in the class that have found their way to Norway. England, Philippines, Chile, Poland, Brazil, Peru, India, and the Czech Republic are all represented.
