Holding a 2-0 lead from the first leg, the Puerto Rico Islanders attempted to hold off the Mexican Primera Division’s Cruz Azul in Mexico City Tuesday evening only to find themselves in overtime tied 2-2 on aggregate. An early Islanders goal in extra time gave the visitors the lead only to see the hosts level and eventually advance in penalties, 4-2, to the CONCACAF Champions League Final after a 3-3 series draw.

The Puerto Rico Islanders stunned five-time CONCACAF champion Cruz Azul with a 2-0 first leg Semifinal victory on the efforts of Sandy Gbandi, Nicholas Addlery and Bill Guadette in front of over 13,000 at the Juan Ramon Loubriel Stadium Tuesday evening.

Defending champion Montreal to host final match
The Canadian Soccer Association and its three top professional clubs - Montréal Impact, Toronto FC and Vancouver Whitecaps FC - announced the schedule for the 2009 Nutrilite Canadian Championship. The three-team, six-match tournament will run May 6 to June 17. The 2009 winner will advance to represent Canada in 2009-10 CONCACAF Champions League season.
