CHARLESTON, SC -- The Charleston Battery has teamed up with CNN Radio 1450 and will broadcast all 2006 away games on the talk radio station.
This is the seventh consecutive season that the Charleston Battery has offered live radio broadcasts of its away games. All matches are also broadcast via the web at
www.charlestonbattery.com. Play-by-play duties will once again be handled by Andrew Bell.
Gil Kirkman, owner of Kirkman Broadcasting and CNN 1450, "The Charleston Battery has proven itself to be a first class franchise and we're excited to be aligned with them. I can't think of a better station to air their games than CNN Radio 1450. The demographics of their fan base is amazingly similar to that of the people that routinely listen to that signal.”
“To be able to market our stations through their team can't do anything but help the public's awareness for what we do at Kirkman Broadcasting. Plus, we're looking forward to promoting the Battery on our other radio stations, ESPN Radio 910 and 950 The Team and Real 1340."
The broadcast schedule kicks off Saturday, June 3 as the Battery travel to Atlanta for a 7:30 PM match versus the Silverbacks. Charleston plays 14 regular season road games; CNN Radio 1450 will also carry all post-season road matches and all 2006 away US Open Cup games.
