Ocean City Barons
10+ Club - Class of 2006

(South Jersey Barons)

Originally a member of the USL Second Division, the South Jersey Barons rebounded from a difficult first season to reach the postseason in their second campaign. In 1999, the club posted a 16-2 record for the regular season title, but were unable to win the league championship, falling in the final.

After missing the postseason for the second time in 2002, the club moved to the PDL in 2003 and returned to the playoffs in 2004 by posting an unbeaten 14-0-4 record, joining Chicago that season as the fourth and fifth teams to ever go undefeated in the league. The league’s new trend of playoff upsets, however, struck the Barons in the conference final.

The following year, the team adopted its moniker to reflect Ocean City, where it had begun playing in 2004.

The club launched a W-League team, the South Jersey Banshees, in 2001 and developed a Super Y-League program in 2001.
