About the USL Men’s Player Showcase
Philosophy
Provide an opportunity for the top Under-23 players to showcase their skills and abilities to professional league teams and coaches.
When and where does the Player Showcase take place?
The Player Showcase will take place in Charleston, SC from Sunday, December 14 – Tuesday, December 16.
What are the costs involved with the Player Showcase?
Player Showcase Fee: $375
The Player Showcase Fee covers local transportation (Charleston airport to and from hotel & hotel to and from training facility/stadium), meals, lodging and player kit. Participants are responsible for travel to and from Charleston, SC.
How can you participate in the Player Showcase?
Anyone is welcome to apply for the Player Showcase, but we will only accept 90 top-level players in 2008. When you apply you must submit a player resume or bio along with the APPLICATION. Please do not send any form of payment with application and bio. Only upon acceptance into the Player Showcase will you submit payment. From the time of your acceptance you will have one week to submit payment and flight information in order to solidify your spot in the Player Showcase. The deadline to apply is November 7, 2008 however we will be accepting players on a rolling basis prior to the deadline. You will receive notice of acceptance no later than November 14.
How are you selected for the Player Showcase?
Players looking to participate in the Player Showcase will be selected based on their playing background and their soccer achievements. In order to qualify for Under-23 you must be born on or after January 1, 1985. This is the current U-23 date that was used for the 2008 PDL season.
Player Showcase Details:
Players selected to the Player Showcase will be placed on teams at random to provide the optimum level of scouting to coaches and general managers. Each team will have a team specific training session on Sunday, play two matches on Monday and one match on Tuesday.
